Ninety Six - 16x20 original artwork on board by John Beard Collection showing coastal plein air painting

From the painter’s field kit to your wall

Ninety Six captures a gold-lit meadow cut by cool water, the kind of afternoon that hushes a room.

Quiet abundance

A plein air moment, kept

Never-before-released workshop original

Walls can feel finished yet emotionless—objects that fill space without a story. Ninety Six brings the immediacy of plein air, brushwork that reads like breath. Its layered strokes hold the hesitations and surges of an actual day outside, so the room inherits that lived-in, human cadence.

What it adds to a room

Color lands first: saffron field, slate blues, a seam of white water. Then the pace slows. You notice the painter’s edits, the pushes and pulls that make a landscape feel remembered rather than recorded. It invites conversation and quiet in equal measure.

For the collector at home

Someone who wants an original artwork with visible hand and history—something to anchor a dining wall, studio corner, or entry.

Place and live with it

Hang Ninety Six where natural light can graze the surface, letting the brushwork shift from morning to evening.

Artist background

John Beard’s coastal odyssey

Raised in the Florida Keys, John Beard learned to see by the sea: swimming, sailing and building island forts informed a lifelong visual vocabulary. Family painting sessions and artist workshops kindled a practice that now favors coastal moods—abstract and representational treatments of shoreline vistas, towns and village scenes. For 17 years he also lived abroad doing humanitarian work across 35 nations, a chapter that deepened the quiet, human sensibility behind pieces such as Whispers on the Beach. Available as printed and framed canvas wall art, Beard’s work brings twilight tones and shoreline calm to walls and everyday rooms. Collectors choose his canvases when they want art that reads as memory and place rather than mere decoration.
